Developed in response to numerous requests from multihull and race yacht owners, this alloy version of the formidable Steel Excel maintains the same physical size and exceptional holding power while offering the added benefits of a lighter weight and a removable shank for easy storage.
The removable shank is designed for quick assembly, requiring only a few minutes to put together. It is inserted up through the anchor, ensuring it is not reliant on bolts for which enhances redundancy and overall reliability.
When tested on the unique T.A.T.S. machine, the SARCA Excel has been shown to deliver exceptional results in holding power – even in comparison with some of the world’s best anchors. The Excel eliminates common issues associated with hoop-style anchors. Unlike traditional designs, it fits nearly any pulpit or bow roller anchor retrieval system without requiring a hoop. Its self-righting and self-aligning properties ensure a secure set every time. The anchor’s convex design prevents it from acting as a “mud bucket,” improving cleaning and setting performance. Strategically placed apertures allow water to flow through when penetrating the ocean floor, reducing resistance and enhancing efficiency. During retrieval, these same openings help prevent mud compression, ensuring a cleaner anchor upon retrieval.
