Rope Guard is a paint specifically designed for use with synthetic ropes. It offers more than just a way to identify a rope or a section of rope. It provides several additional benefits, including increased UV resistance, improved abrasion resistance, and fiber binding to help stabilize synthetic ropes. Suitable for use on any fiber, such as Dyneema®, PBO-Zylon®, Vectran®, Kevlar®, Technora®, Polyester, etc.
Rope Guard – Directions for Use
Application:
Rope Guard can be applied with a brush, or the rope can be immersed in the solution. For better penetration, work the solution into the rope by moving it around. Squeeze or wipe off any excess to achieve a more even finish. For improved penetration, Rope Guard can be thinned with clean water by up to 30%; however, note that this may reduce some of its protective properties. Recoating is possible, but the rope must be clean before applying additional layers.
Drying/Setting:
Rope Guard is an air-dried solution and does not require heat or additional chemicals to dry. Drying time can range from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the temperature. Full curing may take up to 24 hours. Avoid using Rope Guard in temperatures below 10°C.
Clean-up:
Rope Guard can be cleaned up with water as long as it has not dried. Once dry, it cannot be cleaned with water.
Coverage:
Coverage varies significantly depending on the type of rope being treated. In general, the coating is quite efficient, though ropes may initially absorb more Rope Guard than necessary. A gentle squeeze can release the excess for reuse.
