When it comes to marking chain, push‑in style chain markers offer a significant improvement over more primitive methods such as paint or zip ties. By being inserted directly into the centre of the chain links, the markers are far less likely to be knocked out during use, while still allowing the chain to remain flexible and run smoothly through the winch.
These markers are also quick and easy to install. The recommended method is to wet the marker, align it with the welded side of the chain link, and then press it firmly into place until it is fully inserted.
Chain markers are available in both individual packets and bulk boxes. Each individual packet is designed to mark approximately 25 cm of chain, while the bulk boxes contain the equivalent of five packets and include the full range of colours.
