Armare Lumina Lifeline SK99 Dyneema Cored Triple Braid

Description

The Armare Lumina Lifeline is a specialty rope designed for lifeline applications, offering the perfect alternative to traditional steel lifelines. It incorporates several special features that set it apart from standard single and double braid rope constructions.

At its surface, the rope features a SK99 Core with a SK78 Dyneema® cover integrated with specialized UV-reactive inserts. These inserts significantly enhance visibility in low-light conditions, helping reduce the risk of trips and falls at night.

Structurally, the Lumina Lifeline is Class II triple braid construction. At its core is a 12-strand SK99 Dyneema® single braid, providing the exceptional strength and minimal stretch. This core is surrounded by a secondary polyester braid, which is then enclosed by the SK78 Dyneema® outer cover with Glow in the Dark inserts.

This triple braid design delivers key advantages over traditional single braid and double braid ropes. Notably, the ability to maintain a near-constant diameter even through spliced sections. In conventional ropes, splices typically create a thicker section at the throat, tapering gradually and increasing the original rope diameter (often up to 1.5× the original). This can cause issues when passing through stanchions with tight tolerances, often requiring a reduction in rope diameter.

With the Lumina Lifeline, the load-bearing function is concentrated in the SK99 core. During splicing, the intermediate braid can be removed, tapered, and buried at the end of the core splice. This enables the rope to maintain a consistent diameter throughout, allowing it to pass smoothly through stanchions without compromising strength.

As a result, this lifeline addresses the tighter tolerances required in life lines due to staunchions, while also providing a very clean and consistent finish. Outside of the features unique to Lumina Life Line, the rope offers great durability, weight savings, high strength and minimal stretch and excellent UV resistance.
