Description
When it comes to rope splicing, whether you’re a novice giving splicing a go for the first time or a professional rigger, Selma fids are a must have for single braid and double braid ropes.
Selma fids are made from highly polished stainless steel, making them both durable and corrosion resistant. This makes them perfectly suited to wet and salty rope-working environments. These push-style needle fids are designed to run through the inside of ropes for both single and double braid splicing.
Selma fids are part and parcel of the rigging and splicing work we do here at CRA, and they’re a product we can confidently stand behind. We’ve consistently chosen these over other push-style needle fids on the market because, when it comes to getting the job done efficiently and to a high standard, they simply outperform many of the alternatives. When used with the correct sizing, orientation, and technique, these fids slide through rope buttery smooth without catching strands or yarns. This helps create a clean, consistent splice with a smooth finish and no unwanted lumps.
In terms of stock, we carry the Selma 5 Pack as the slightly higher cost provides significantly more versatility. The pack includes 4mm, 5.5mm, 7.5mm, 10mm, and 13mm fids.
The 5 Pack allows for splicing single braid (12 Strand) ropes from 3mm to 16mm and double braid ropes from 6mm to 20mm in diameter, making it a versatile option for a wide range of rope splicing applications.
